Are you a new student in Engineering, Information Technology, or Architecture?

There’s so much happening across the campus during O-Week and beyond that it can be hard to know where you should be and when.

To help you out, we’ve put together a simple guide to the essential new student events and activities across campus. Get advice on your timetable, attend a workshop, and get orientated!

What’s on in O-Week

O-Week is on from the 17–21 February 2020, and is an important step to starting university and making new friends, so make sure you get involved!

Project Days

Project Days are compulsory for all students commencing Engineering, Information Technology, and Computer Science. First year Architectural Design students also have a compulsory orientation session.

Postgraduate events

Meet key academics and gain valuable advice on course selection, resources and what is expected of you as a postgraduate student at the Postgraduate Welcome and Advice Seminar.

Support sessions

Timetable and Scholarships Support Sessions for first year engineering students are held throughout O-Week. Bring your timetable with you and get one-on-one advice.

Women in Engineering First Year Welcome Lunch

The Women in Engineering team will be hosting lunch and providing insider tips for first year students. Don't miss this great opportunity to meet the 2020 Engineering cohort and the Women in Engineering student leaders. Find all the details here.

Market Day

Note: Market Day no longer takes place during O-Week. It has moved to the first Wednesday of Semester, Wednesday 26 February in The Great Court. 

Market Day is a must for new students, with +190 stalls, freebies, competitions, and opportunities to learn about UQ clubs and societies and sporting teams. Find all the details here.

Learn something new and hang out with fellow students who share your interests by joining one the many clubs and societies across Engineering and Computing and Architecture:

Get set to use the tools at UQ Innovate

UQ Innovate is a makerspace where students and staff can get hands-on with the latest design equipment and technologies. To use the tools you are required to complete online training and attend induction sessions, so book your training in for the start of the semester to get a head start.
