A research services agreement was recently signed by The University of Queensland and PT Bukit Teknologi Digital (BTech) to develop measures to improve the safety and productivity of mining operations.

This partnership will leverage UQ’s world-class research capabilities and BTech’s mining analytics to improve operational performance and sustainability.

The focus of the joint research is developing a framework for Asset Health Indicators that will help assess the Remaining Useful Life (RUL) of critical equipment components, optimising maintenance and extending equipment lifespan in a sustainable way. This collaboration aims to address challenges such as unplanned downtime and expensive repairs by using data analytics, machine learning, and component health indexing to improve operational efficiency and asset management.

Professor Sue Harrison, Executive Dean of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology said, "We are thrilled to collaborate with BTech. This partnership represents a key milestone in fostering global innovation in mining. Advancing predictive maintenance is crucial to optimising mining operations and improving sustainability."

Endang Veronica, President Director of BTech, added, “We’re excited to partner with UQ, one of Australia’s leading research institutions. This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing mining technology and setting new industry standards for reliability and sustainability.”

In September 2024, Delta Dunia Group signed an Umbrella Agreement with UQ to support research in sustainable mining and technological advancements across its subsidiaries.
