Researcher biography

Dr. Yan Wang is a postdoctoral researcher within the School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering at the University of Queensland, Australia. She achieved her PhD from the University of New South Wales in 2023. Her academic journey includes a Master's degree in Engineering (2019, Mechanics) from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Mechanics (2017) from Dalian University of Technology, China.

Yan has more than five years of research experience, showcasing her proficiency in both computational modeling using MATLAB and ABAQUS, as well as practical experimentation in manufacturing and material characterization. Specifically, she has experience in but not limited to advanced manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and tribology testing and characterization, using techniques such as nanoindentation, nanoscratching, SEM, EDS, EBSD, FIB, TEM, XRD, MPD, AFM, and UV-visible spectroscopy. Additionally, she has demonstrated knowledge and experience in machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) using Python, enabling her to draw data-driven insights and perform advanced analyses.
